Developers Invited to Submit Proposals for Katterjohn Property (1501 Broadway)

Date of Release:
February 06, 2025

The City of Paducah is excited to invite developers to submit proposals for the development of housing on the city-owned Katterjohn property located at 1501 Broadway. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the revitalization of a key area within our community.

Mayor George Bray said, “Housing is a priority for the City Commission and a main theme in the newly approved City-County Comprehensive Plan. The City is looking for creative proposals to provide housing on this key property in Paducah. The Katterjohn site is unique with both commercial and residential zoning. We are looking for a project that will fit into the housing stock in the neighboring Fountain Avenue Neighborhood, and we encourage developers to engage with us in getting to the right solution.”

Paducah Planning Director Carol Gault said, “Over the past couple of years, the City of Paducah has completed significant work on the site to set it up for development success. Dilapidated structures have been removed, and the City used Brownfield Assessment Grant funds to address the site’s environmental needs. This is a rare opportunity for a developer to create an impactful infill development in the heart of Paducah.”

Proposals will be accepted no later than 4 p.m. on March 31. Please visit Request for Bids and Proposals to view the Request for Proposal packet and submission guidelines.

Background  The City purchased the 3.21-acre property which included the deteriorated Katterjohn building in 2023 after previous owners had failed to properly maintain the structure. In 2024, the City approved a demolition contract to remove the dilapidated structure. The site is now cleared and ready for redevelopment.
